EFFECTS OF THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN ON TTB OPERATIONS

When you go to the TTB's homepage (www.ttb.gov) you come across the following notice regarding the current government shutdown:

Permit and label applications are still being accepted during the shutdown and online website systems such as PermitsOnline (PONL) and COLAs Online are still available for new submissions; however, no employees are reviewing the requests received during this time.

Licensees and taxpayers can continue to pay federal excise taxes, file tax returns and operational reports online through Pay.gov as well.

TTB employees have been directed not to come to work and they are prohibited from volunteering their services during this time. All forms of communication with the Department will remain unmanned and no responses should be expected (i.e. phone lines, emails, fax, etc.) while the government shutdown is in place since there is no available employees or personnel. Hopefully once funding is restored regular service will resume as quickly as possible. Expect there to be an additional impact on the average processing times for new permit & label applications depending on how long the shutdown continues.
